This conference is included in the series "Tutti amano la Matematica", organized by Seminario Matematico di Brescia, an interuniversity research center between Università degli Studi di Brescia and Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Brescia. The evening is moderated by Prof. Anita Pasotti, director of the center, and the speaker will be Eng. Leonardo Rizza.

Celebrating May 12 at EDAI

EDAÍ is a Dynamical Systems seminar jointly organized by PUC-Rio, UFF and UFRJ since 2008. EDAÍ is generally held on Fridays, with one Matinee and two Lectures. The Matinees present classical Dynamical Systems results that have not yet found their place in the introductory course syllabus, while the Lectures generally address recent research topics.

In this occasion we celebrate May12 day.

Donna Maria Gaetana Agnesi

The website https://may12.womeninmaths.org/ records events celebrating women in Mathematics from May 1st to June 15th. Why May 12th is the reference day? It is the birthday of Maryam Mirzakhani (1977-2017), the first woman to win the Fields Medal (in 2014). In this context, the tribute of the Mathematical Seminary of Brescia to one of the greatest women in math of the history, Maria Gaetana Agnesi (1718-1799), is a must. In her journey through languages, literature, philosophy, theology, science, and charity, the meeting with a mathematician from Brescia stands out.

Certainty in uncertain times

On 12 May we celebrate women in mathematics. The goal of the day is to inspire women everywhere to celebrate their achievements in mathematics, and to encourage an open, welcoming and inclusive work environment for everybody. This year, which is also the 70th birthday of the Leiden University Mathematical Institute, we mark this day with a public lecture by prof. dr. Eva Miranda on certainty in uncertain times.
