Emmy Noether, from algebra to physics

Continuing the tradition of celebrating the 'May12 Celebration of Women in Mathematics" with a talk on the life and work of a women mathematician, after Maryam Mirzakhani (2014 Fields Medalist) in May 2022, Marina Ratner (in May 2023) and Maryna Viazowska (2022 Fields Medalist)  in May 2024, we are please to announce this year a talk on the life and work of Emmy Nother, accessible to Bachelor and Master students in Math (and not only).

Roda de conversa - Mulheres na Matemática: Quais os Desafios Atuais?/Chatting Circle - Women in Mathematics: What Are the Current Challenges?

A roda de conversa propõe uma reflexão sobre os desafios enfrentados atualmente por mulheres na matemática, abordando questões de participação, reconhecimento e equidade, além de incentivar o diálogo sobre caminhos para a transformação desse cenário.

The conversation circle proposes a reflection on the challenges currently faced by women in mathematics, addressing issues of participation, recognition, and equity, while also encouraging dialogue on ways to transform this reality.

Dynamic Women - Celebrating Women in Math and MinutMina

The event Dynamic Women - Celebrating Women in Math is a group that promotes activities to make visible and support women in mathematics. Among this year's activities, we will have lectures, discussions, a research presentation dispute and a larger event, Celebrating Women in Mathematics. The latter will take place in July 2025.

The MinutMina is a Tournament where female students make a research presentation in 3 Minutes. The best one win. The word "Mina" is a Brazilian Portuguese slang term that means girl.

Celebrating women in math @UniCA

On the occasion of the International Day of Women in Mathematics, the "Corso di Studi in Matematica" of the University of Cagliari, in collaboration with "PLS-Matematica", proposes an afternoon for May 12, 2025 entirely dedicated to female mathematicians. The event is mainly addressed at students and colleagues of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science but is obviously open to anyone interested. The programme includes a seminar by Prof.

Women in Mathematics Morning Tea

The UWA Mathematics Union is excited to be hosting a Women in Mathematics Morning Tea on May 12th.

It can often be challenging for women in mathematics, physics, computing, and related fields to find each other in these male-dominated areas. This event provides a relaxed and inclusive environment to meet, connect, and share experiences with others on similar academic paths. Whether you're just starting your degree or well into your studies, come along for some morning tea and good conversation, we’d love to see you there!

When: 12th May, 10:00am -11:00am
