The Day of Women in Mathematics

Public lecture by prof. Boštjan Kuzman (UL PEF) entitled

"Nadarjene, izjemne, (ne)pozabljene: življenjske poti prvih slovenskih profesoric matematike in fizike."

(angl. translation: "Gifted, exceptional, (un)forgotten: life paths of the first slovenian female professors in Mathematics and Physics"). The lecture will be followed by a discussion.

Lecture Announcement: Ksenija Atanasijević and the First Doctorate in Mathematics by a Woman in Serbia

As part of the international celebration of Women in Mathematics Day, Saša Popović, associate of the Mathematical Institute of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, will give a lecture on the doctoral dissertation of Ksenija Atanasijević — the first woman in Serbia to earn a PhD and the first female docent at the University of Belgrade.

À l'occasion de la journée internationale des femmes en mathématiques, la bibliothèque de l'INSA Rennes met en lumière quelques femmes en mathématiques et sciences, peu connues du grand public. Des ouvrages sur ce sujet sont mis en valeur, et de courtes vidéos présentant ces livres et des portraits de femmes seront diffusées sur les réseaux sociaux.

Women in Mathematics Day in Manipal

The Women in Mathematics day, first organized in 2019, celebrates women in Mathematics all over the world. It is in honor of Iranian Mathematician Maryam Mirzakhani, the first and only woman to win the Fields Medal, the most prestigious award in Mathematics. The chosen day May 12th, 1977 refers to her birthday. Maryam Mirzakhani, who was a professor at Stanford University, died from breast cancer in 2017.

International Women in Mathematics Day 2025 at Elsevier

In celebration of International Women in Mathematics Day opens in new tab/window on 12th May, the Mathematics publishing team and Editors of relevant journals have curated a selection of impactful papers published over the last three years (since 2022). Each featured paper has a female mathematician as the corresponding author, and was selected for its impact, novelty, and contribution to the field.
