En el marco del Día Internacional de la Mujer en Matemáticas, que se celebra cada 12 de mayo en conmemoración del nacimiento de Maryam Mirzakhani, tenemos el placer de invitarles a la proyección del documental "Secrets of the Surface: The Mathematical Vision of Maryam Mirzakhani" (2020).

Este documental retrata la vida y la obra de la matemática iraní, primera mujer en recibir la Medalla Fields (el máximo galardón en esta disciplina). A través de testimonios de colegas, profesores y estudiantes, así como de secuencias animadas que ilustran sus ideas, la película revela tanto su revolucionario pensamiento matemático como el profundo impacto de su legado. Su trayectoria, desde sus inicios en Irán hasta convertirse en una figura clave de las matemáticas contemporáneas, la convierte en una fuente de inspiración para las nuevas generaciones de científicas y científicos.

Discovering the Legacy of Maryam Mirzakhani: Screening of "Secrets of the Surface"

In the framework of the International Day of Women in Mathematics, celebrated every May 12th in commemoration of the birth of Maryam Mirzakhani, we are pleased to invite you to the screening of the documentary "Secrets of the Surface: The Mathematical Vision of Maryam Mirzakhani" (2020).

This documentary portrays the life and work of the Iranian mathematician, the first woman to receive the Fields Medal (the highest recognition in this discipline). Through testimonies from colleagues, teachers, and students, as well as animated sequences illustrating her ideas, the film reveals both her revolutionary mathematical thinking and the profound impact of her legacy. Her journey, from her beginnings in Iran to becoming a key figure in contemporary mathematics, makes her a source of inspiration for new generations of scientists.
