It’s with great pleasure that the Gender Academy invites you to celebrate May 12, the International Women in Mathematics Day!
When: 12th of May, 14:30 – 16:00
Where: Lärosal 31 (Albano - Hus 4, Plan 2)
May 12 was chosen in memory of Maryam Mirzakhani’s birthday. Her work in geometry and dynamical systems reshaped important areas of mathematics, while her trajectory continues to inspire new generations of mathematicians worldwide. And she was the first woman to be awarded the Fields Medal, the most prestigious prize in mathematics.
To mark this occasion, we will watch together the film Secrets of the Surface: The Mathematical Vision of Maryam Mirzakhani, followed by a conversation with Sofia Tirabassi, Professor of Mathematics at Stockholm University. For more information, please see the poster attached.
Whether you are enthusiastic about mathematics, curious about Mirzakhani’s work, or simply interested in celebrating women in mathematics, you are very welcome to join us. The event is free of charge!
