This first edition of the newsletter of the African Women in Mathematics Association (AWMA) is part of AWMA’s participation in the May12 celebration.
As mentionned in the webpage of May12, « the goal of the day is to inspire women everywhere to celebrate their achievements in mathematics, and to encourage an open, welcoming and inclusive work environment for everybody ». This is in on line with the objectives of AWMA to promote women in mathematics in Africa and promote mathematics among young girls and women in Africa.
On May 11 2025, there are already eight african countries participating to May 12 : Algeria, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa and Tunisia.
Cette première édition de la newsletter de l'Association des Femmes Africaines en Mathématiques (AWMA) s'inscrit dans le cadre de la participation de l'AWMA aux célébrations de May 12.
Comme indiqué sur la page web de May 12, « l'objectif de cette journée est d'inciter les femmes du monde entier à célébrer leurs réussites en mathématiques et d'encourager un environnement de travail ouvert, accueillant et inclusif pour tous ».
Cette initiative s'inscrit dans les objectifs de l'AWMA de promouvoir les femmes en mathématiques en Afrique et de promouvoir les mathématiques auprès des jeunes filles et des femmes du continent.
Le 9 Mai 2025, huit pays africains participent déjà aux célébrations de May 12 l'Algérie, le Burkina Faso, l'Égypte, le Maroc, le Nigéria, le Sénégal, l'Afrique du Sud et la Tunisie.
