The Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Sciences department are excited to announce this year's 'Celebrating Women in the Mathematical Sciences' event, which will be held on
Wednesday 13 May 2026 at 13:30 in MS04.
The event will highlight research conducted by women and gender diverse colleagues in the mathematical sciences. The programme consists of short presentations showcasing diverse contributions, followed by an informal reception and exhibition.
En el marco de la celebración del Día Internacional de la Mujer en la Matemáticas, desde la Maestría en Matemáticas del Instituto de Ciencias Físicas y Matemáticas de la Universidad Austral de Chile, se propone PRISMA de Mujeres Matemáticas, una actividad que quiere mostrar la matemática como espectro de perspectivas, trayectorias y formas de pensar. Así como un prisma revela los colores contenidos en la luz, este espacio busca visibilizar las múltiples voces que componen la matemática.

A 'women in maths' themed trivia event with food and drinks provided and prizes to be won. Students can have fun with their peers while they learn about the role of women in mathematics!
The event is to be held at the University of Wollongong Unibar on the 13th of May from 12:30 to 14:30 AEST.
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to come regardless of background, the questions will not require any technical knowledge.

The exposition "Mathématiques, informatique… avec elles !" (created by the French association femmes et mathématiques) will be displayed at the Mathematical Institute of Bordeaux (France), in the hall in front of the conference room, for one month starting from May 12. On the very first day of the exposition, May 12, on the occasion of the International Women in Mathematics Day, the movie "I am Sophie Germain" will be projected in a loop in the conference room, and refreshments will be served.
Tatjana Tchumatchenko will give a presentation on her research and its connections to mathematics in a way that’s easy to understand. Afterwards, we’ve prepared a pub quiz for you in the Plückerraum about women mathematicians. The quiz will cover great women mathematicians from the past as well as the present.
This talk explores the role of emotions in learning mathematics, with a particular focus on math anxiety and self-efficacy from a neuroscience perspective. Drawing on research evidence, it examines how negative emotional responses—such as fear or tension—can interfere with students’ performance, while positive beliefs about one’s own abilities can foster engagement and achievement.
Il 12 maggio 2026, In occasione dell’iniziativa internazionale May12 – Celebrating Women in Mathematics, giunta all’ottava edizione, il Dipartimento di Scienze Matematiche, Fisiche e Informatiche dell’Università di Udine organizza un evento dedicato alla valorizzazione del contributo femminile alla matematica.
