Description and practical details

Join the Canadian Mathematical Society's Waterloo Women in Mathematics Committee for a virtual panel highlighting the achievements of women in the mathematical sciences. Featuring panelists from both academia and industry, the first hour will be reserved for a panel discussion, and the remaining time will be used for a Q&A with the panelists in breakout rooms.

The panelists featured in this event are:

  • Leah Edelstein-Keshet (Professor, UBC) – mathematical biology
  • Chantal David (Professor, Concordia University) – number theory
  • Melanie Poulin-Costello (Director Biostatistics, Roche) – mathematical modelling and data science in biotech. 
  • Laila Salman (Principal Technical Specialist, Ansys) – applied mathematics in engineering simulation. 
  • Doris Simcich (Global Senior Director, AstraZeneca) – data science initiatives in pharmaceutical research and development.
